YoungBoy Never Broke Again × BAPE® / Complex Cover Launch — 2026

A cover launch runs on an editorial clock: the story can move late, but the products have to be ready when it lands. On January 20, Complex published the YoungBoy Never Broke Again cover story, and I led the launch of BAPE® shirts and a limited cracked-ice GAS card across the Complex website and app.

Commerce on an editorial clock

A normal commerce drop can work toward a fixed on-sale time. A cover launch follows a looser editorial release: headlines, copy, content, and timing can all change late, while the products still need to be ready when the story lands.

My job was to keep the Complex commerce launch on that editorial clock without pulling the store away from the cover moment it was built to support.

January 20 — Cover and commerce on the same day

On January 20, 2026, Complex published its YoungBoy Never Broke Again cover story, tied to the album Slime Cry, alongside a commerce release of BAPE® apparel and a limited cracked-ice GAS card, sold at Complex in celebration of the album and the cover. A related Complex story pointed readers to the drops.

I led the digital strategy and launch across the Complex website and app, working with editorial so the story and the products arrived as one public moment.

A brief slip, then launch

A cover launch leaves less distance between an editorial change and the commerce work that has to follow it. I stayed in step with the editorial team as the release approached, then carried the launch through the website and app.

It went relatively smoothly, although it slipped briefly from the exact planned timing. The delay stayed short, and the launch went live.

One collaboration across every channel

Two days later, on January 22, Complex was still promoting it, with a social post linking the cover and the BAPE collaboration.

I consider it one of the best and most cohesive collaborations Complex has launched across its channels: the cover, the BAPE® apparel, the cracked-ice GAS card, the website, and the app all read as one launch.

Limits

The exact website and app states, how long the launch slipped, and any sales results are not documented. Calling it one of Complex’s most cohesive collaborations is my own view.
